Our Smoothie Bike is exactly what it sounds like: a bike that makes smoothies! The bike has a blender attached to it. When kids pedal, the blender spins and mixes the ingredients. It’s a fun, hands‑on way to teach kids and families about healthy eating.

Our staff sets up the Smoothie Bike and shows kids how the bike powers the blender. Kids pick their own ingredients, such as fruits, vegetables, milk, water, or yogurt. After choosing what they want, they get on the bike and start pedaling. As they pedal, the blender spins and mixes everything together. When the smoothie is done, kids get to enjoy the healthy drink they created.

What Kids LearnA group of children sit on a gym floor, facing a woman speaking. A colorful bike with a large wheel is nearby.

Funding

Missouri receives funding from the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Bureau of the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). This funding helps the state support and improve services for mothers, children, and youth and their families.

This funding is called the Title V MCH Services Block Grant. It provides the foundation for many state and local programs that focus on the health and well‑being of Missouri families. The Jefferson County Health Department uses this funding to support several programs including the smoothie bike.
