As the Fourth of July gets closer, many of us are planning how and where we are going to celebrate the holiday with friends and family. Check out the tips below to keep yourself and others safe, including advice on fireworks safety, food safety, and how to keep your pets safe.
Fireworks Safety
The safest way to enjoy fireworks is by going to a public demonstration. If you are going to use fireworks at home, consider these following safety tips:
Don't let small children go near lit fireworks.
Don't point fireworks, including Roman candles, at other people or buildings/vehicles.
Always follow the instructions on firework packaging.
Keep water close in case of an emergency.
Wear eye protection when lighting fireworks.
Never attempt to relight "a dud," or a failed firework.
Store fireworks in a cool, dry place until ready to use.

Pet Safety
While we may be focused on friends and family during the holiday, it is important to be aware of your furry friend! Consider these following safety tips if you have pets joining you during the holiday festivities:
Remember that pets can become frightened in environments that are crowded and loud, like large public fireworks displays.
Keep pets away from lit fireworks and other flammables, like citronella candles and sparklers.
Don't leave food or alcoholic drinks where pets can reach them unsupervised.
