Jefferson County Drops to COVID-19 YELLOW Status, First Time Since June 2020

After 34 weeks shifting between ORANGE and RED status, Jefferson County has dropped into the YELLOW status. This is the first time Jefferson County has been in the YELLOW status since the week of June 28, 2020. The Week 9 epidemiological reports show the rolling 7-day average of cases per day per 100,000 residents at 9.84, under the 10-case threshold for ORANGE status.

“We are thrilled to see the county in YELLOW status,” states Jefferson County Health Department Director, Kelley Vollmar. “As we approach one year of COVID-19 in Jefferson County, to see the numbers decreasing and mitigation efforts positively impacting the outcome is rewarding.”

In addition, CDC Week 9 marks the first week with no COVID-19 cases in a long-term care facility (LTCF). This is the first week with no LTCF cases since the beginning of the pandemic in Jefferson County on March 23, 2020.

“Though we are excited to share that our color status has dropped to yellow, we must stay the course with our prevention efforts to maintain the gains we are currently seeing,” states Jefferson County Health Department Director, Kelley Vollmar. “We encourage residents to continue masking, handwashing, and practicing physical distancing, and consider getting immunized when they are eligible.”
