The Jefferson County Health Department conducts influenza surveillance each season to monitor the pattern of illness in our community. Influenza is still circulating in Jefferson County, though we have begun to see a slow decline in the numbers of influenza cases reported per week. Most states, including Missouri, are still reporting to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that influenza cases are widespread.
The CDC still recommends immunization for everyone 6 months and older as the best way to prevent influenza.
