Holiday Schedule

The lab schedule is different than the health department schedule due to the time necessary to run water tests. We recommend you contact our office at (636) 797-3737 extension 2, or download the Lab Holiday Schedule.

Bacteriological Water Testing

The Jefferson County Health Department Lab is state certified for the testing of drinking water samples from private and public wells for bacterial contamination. The lab tests water from Missouri Department of Natural Resources regulated sources such as: Jefferson County cities and water districts, mobile home parks, subdivisions and also from similar sources from outside of the county.

If you have a private well, it should be tested for bacterial contamination periodically to ensure the water you drink is safe.

Testing Costs:

Citizens of the county    $ 14.00
Non Citizens                 $ 17.00

Drinking water samples must be collected in a sterile container provided by the health department lab. Results are usually available in 24 - 48 hours.

Water collected in containers that are not provided by our lab will not be tested.

Contact our office at (636) 797-3737, extension 2 for more information.

If you have your water tested and your water sample results were unsafe review the following documents for guidance

Up to five elements or Chemicals      $ 20.00

Water collected in containers that are not provided by our lab will not be tested.
